Synopsis
Between 1930 and the day of his assassination in 1961, Rafael Leónidas Trujillo, aka «El Chivo,» transformed the Dominican Republic into a dictatorship, rife with abuses. Planned assassinations, gender-based violence, artistic and sporting spectacles, and absolute control of the media were the tools used by one of the most grotesque tyrants of the 20th century to control the people. Only a few brave individuals risked their lives to confront him. Minerva Mirabal, nicknamed «La Mariposa,» was one of them. A unique, beautiful, cultured, and committed woman, whose short life hastened the end of the totalitarian regime.
